The Woman in The Shamans Body

Just finished an awesome book: The Woman in The Shaman's Body. Excellent research that debunks the theory that only men were shamans. Tedlock covers the two paths of shamanism, feminine and masculine. She gives data that explains why women are better suited to be shamans. Includes stories and archeological data from shamanic cultures world-wide. A wonderful eye-opening book that brings out patterns and shows how they weave together.

And goes on to point out the underlying misogyny of Mircea Eliade and other researchers of his time. They basically ignored the evidence in front of them that women were shamans. No wonder I could never finish reading Eliade's book. I can only use it as a reference.
