Pluto in Capricorn
Took the kiddo and my young dancer friend and went to the Mission last night to go see Anne Bluenthenthal's wonderful 25th anniversary dance show. We had a great time both wandering through odd ball shops and eating dinner at Wierd Fish. Had to go back to one shop and buy the kiddo a purse she found that holds an iPod. Now we have to find her iPod!
Then it was off to the dance show. There was poetry and music by Judy Grahn and Ann Carol. There were young and old dancers as well as dances from early on in Anne's career and the premiere of Pluto in Capricorn. It was lithe, provoking, full of heart, and entrancing. I especially liked the juxtaposition of the wing chair bit with the younger dancers. Two dance movements in different tempos that complemented each other in unexpected ways. Visually intriguing. Kiddo yawned a few times as her bedtime ticked by, but she actively watched all the dances and told me she really liked it. I certainly enjoyed the show.
