off to the land of imagination

Tomorrow morning I fly to Disneyland with my daughter, who has never been. We come back on Sunday morning. I expect total sensory overload, way too much kid food, and way too many things wanting to be bought.

I will be viewing a place that has fed off of old myths and created some new ones. There are lessons clearly being conveyed by many of the stories and characters. Seeing the symbology behind it is hard at times but its there. For example, Cinderella who almost loses her identity to the trickster but stays true to herself and is saved by the hero. If you think about it all happening in one's head, then its bears similarity to the head space most kids go through when they reach puberty.

Mickey mouse ears, here I come!
